The Dallas Mavericks have been a team known for big guys in big roles for quite a few years now. Dirk Nowitzki is a big guy in a big role and has proved his worth many times over. Others such as Shawn Marion and Josh Howard are big guys that have made a mark. The latest player looking to make his mark in Dallas is new arrival Kris Humphries. Acquired from the Toronto Raptors, Kris Humphries is actually a Forward, but he is big enough and physical enough to play at Center. The Center position is the one position where, surprisingly, Dallas has often been lacking in quality players. So far Humphries has impressed teammates with both his physicality in play, and his understanding of the game. Coach Rick Carlisle gave his opinion of Humphries with these words, "He's a physical kid, an underrated player...and he picks things up very quickly." While teammates such as Jason Terry have commented, "Kris Humphries has really impressed me, he's a physical force inside, but he has an outside touch. He has a high basketball IQ. He's been a surprise." With such high words of praise from coach and player alike, it is likely that Humphries will find himself spending some time on the floor in the Center position during this coming season. The Mavericks hope that his impressive recent play during pre-season training will translate into quality play during the season.
